Pack Meeting 22nd May 2012

Despite still being tired from the weekend camping trip, the Cubs learned some tracking signs this week, and can now lay a track to guide others, warning of obstacles, danger and water. Some of the Cubs even created their own sign to direct a group to run around the 300m running track near the clubhouse.

As the weather seems to be improving, the evening was finished off with a game of kick cricket.

Blackwell Adventure 18-20 May 2012

On Friday 18th May, Wilmcote and Tanworth Cub Scouts arrived at Blackwell Court for the main camping trip of the year. The site is 50 acres of parkland near Bromsgrove, with organised activities to promote confidence, teamwork and physical activity.
The Cubs took part in four organised activities over the weekend including archery, tree trek, wall climb and sledging.

After a late first night and a day of activities, the Cubs were demanding to go to bed on Saturday night, and in a remarkable reversal of role, the cubs shouted 'shut up' to Akela when he cheered the Chelsea victory.

Additional entertainment was laid on including Akelas 'bogey song' and the Return to Camp challenge. The Cubs considered this one of the highlights of the week, despite it attracting some disapproving looks from the Girl Guides.

Overnight Camp 27th April 2012

The Cubs had a 'dry' run for the May camping trip, with an overnight camp at the scout hut on Friday.

Hot dogs and some work towards the Astronomy Badge were followed by a late night and midnight snacks. Hopefully the cubs now realise how tired they are going to be at Blackwell, and adjust their sleeping habits accordingly. (Or maybe they won't)

St Georges Day Parade 22nd April 2012

Bearley Scouts hosted the St Georges Day Parade on 22nd April, but forgot to book the weather. Luckily, the rain held off long enough for the parade to return to the village hall for presentations and cakes.
1st Wilmcote had a full compliment of cubs, well done.
