April badge work - a quick summary

The Cubs love lighting fires and this is the month we were able to get outside on a couple of occasions. Once we cooked sausages & bacon and another time we baked s'mores (biscuits, marshmallows, chocolate). Very tasty.
Also this month, we experimented with a few new games, played favourites and made cards for St George's Day.

Pioneering Challenge

The Cubs were challenged in small groups to use canes and string to get one of their group's necker as high off the ground as possible. They did really well! One group got theirs higher than the nearby bungalow!

St George's Parade in Henley-in-Arden

This year's Parade was on Sunday 28th April and was hosted by the Explorers in the District. We paraded around Henley and held a Celebration event at the High School.

March badge work - Scientist badge

In March, we completed the Scientist Activity badge. For this, the Cubs had to complete 6 experiments, so it took two meetings to get through it all. The Cubs looked at:
  1. Making a PH Indicator
  2. Whether plants could be coloured if the flower "drank" dyed water
  3. Building with dried spaghetti and marshmallows
  4. Making a balloon a balloon rocket and experimenting with air pressure
  5. Growing Cress
  6. Growing crystals

March badge work - a quick summary

Other badge work in March included launching the Animal Carer Activity badge. Vet Mum, Alice, came in to talk about being a Vet and care for dogs. She answered Cub's questions on all their other pets too.
